What a year! We had been so confident that the pandemic would be over, that vaccinations would be the game-changer allowing all of us to return to normal life. However, normal is no longer an option as the world has completely changed. The best that can be done is to make lemonade from lemons, scrutinize our experience of the past year, mourn those we have lost, and to try and draw lessons--go forward--and make a better world. I have been continuing to work on sculptures relating to the international circulation of goods, consumption, the accumulation of "stuff," and how can we change so that we live in greater harmony with each other and with the natural world. I have work in an exhibition called Confined at the Canadian Clay and Glass Gallery, and I am preparing for an upcoming solo exhibition at the Craft Council of BC called All Consuming June 16 - August 4, 2022. Here are a few sculptures intended for that exhibition. All are variations of cone 6 stoneware, cone 10 soda-fired porcelain, glaze, and metal hardware.
